A seat at the bus stop
Jan asked Banyule Council for a seat at the new bus stop on Watsonia Road. The Council said yes.
A few months ago one of our community members, Jan, raised something with a representative from Banyule Council’s Service Navigation team at the House. The new bus stop on the corner of Morwell Avenue and Watsonia Road, near the BP, didn’t have a seat — and for Jan, that made getting home by bus much harder.
Jan asked whether a seat could be provided. Her request was heard.
Edward, from Banyule Council’s Traffic and Transport Engineering team, later got in touch to say a seat had been approved and would be installed.
To celebrate we headed down to the bus stop for a photo with it, and were lucky enough to have Edward join us along with Mayor Alison Champion.
This is a good example of a community member speaking up about something that matters, and Council listening and responding. The seat will make a difference not only to Jan but to anyone who needs somewhere to sit while they wait.
Well done Jan, and thank you to Banyule City Council for making it happen. Sometimes a simple seat makes a very big difference.
